Education/General

Our education counsellors can guide you to select the right course and education provider according to your financial situation.

Australia has world-class universities that offer the best courses for any occupations. The most popular courses to study for international students are Accountancy, Engineering, Health Sciences and Nursing, Business, Computer Science and Information Technology (IT) and many more. Contact our education counsellors for further details.

You can change your course/provider only after studying six months of the principal course but at the same level. If you have not completed six months of your principal course, you can only change education providers in some situations. You cannot change from studying a bachelor program to a vocational program. So, changing courses or universities can be tricky and it may affect your student visa if you do not take the proper steps.

Hence, you must seek professional advice from a Qualified Education Agent Counsellor or a registered migration agent before you change your course or provider. Our QEAC certified counsellors and Registered migration agents can guide you according to your situation.

Yes, there are scholarships available for international students. You must check with the education provider for the scholarship program they offer. Every program will have its own criteria that you must meet to be eligible for the scholarship. For accurate information on the requirements and application procedure, you must visit their official website, or contact the education provider directly via their contact forms or emails.

GTE stands for Genuine Temporary Entrant. GTE  requirement is crucial while applying for a student visa. GTE is used as a measure by education providers to ensure that a prospective student meets the criteria to be able to enrol in a particular course, and genuinely intends to enrol in the course with the intention of completing the course. GTE statement is also used by the Department of Home Affairs to ensure that applicants applying for a student visa to Australia have no other hidden motives other than intending to pursue quality education.  It is for making sure the student visa program is not being used as a direct pathway for international students to maintain ongoing residency or permanent residency in Australia.

As a primary student visa holder, you are allowed to work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight when your course is in session and unlimited hours during the vacation. As a secondary student visa holder (dependent) the work rights are different. An adult-dependent of a student enrolled in a course up to Bachelors is allowed to work the same i.e. maximum of 40 hours per fortnight unless the course is out of session. However, the dependent of a student studying for a Masters degree has full-time work rights.

As a general requirement of the Department of Home Affairs, a student visa applicant must show the funds including 1 year of tuition fees, living expenses and funds for return flights to home. As of October 2019, the 12-month living costs are:

  • For students or guardians – AUD$21,041
  • For partners coming with you – AUD$7,362
  • For a child coming with you – AUD$3,152

Migration

While it is not mandatory to use a migration agent to apply for a visa, it is wiser to do so due to the critical risks involved.  If you do use one, you must use a registered migration agent since they have up to date knowledge about Australian visas and can give you advice best suited for your situation. Registered migration agents are the only people legally allowed to provide immigration help for a fee. You can book a FREE consultation with one of our migration agents for any advice related to your visa.

There are more than 100 different types of Australian Visa. But most popular Visa are:

  1. Temporary Residency Visa

  2. Your age must be under 50 years.

But, it is important to acknowledge the risks associated with your GTE while converting to a student visa from a visitor visa or any other visa. Your GTE statement must address all the GTE concerns and be supported by strong evidence of your intention to pursue a course of study in Australia. As every case is unique, the ways to satisfy the GTE concerns will also be unique. You can book an appointment with our registered migration agents for further discussion on your case.

One can go through the skilled migration pathway to Australian PR only if the course he/she has studied leads to a skilled occupation in the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or Short-Term Skills Occupation List (STSOL). You must check the Department of Home Affairs website for the most updated information on the Skill List as it may change time to time. To know if your current course will lead to a skilled occupation, you can book an appointment to talk to our Registered Migration Agents.

There are ways to increase your points for your chance to be eligible for Permanent Residency (PR).  Some of the ways to get additional points are by scoring the highest possible score in the English test, passing a NAATI CCL test if on one of the eligible community language, completing a Professional Year course if your qualification is from IT, Accounting or Engineering.  A registered migration agent will be able to give you further ways for maximising your PR points, after assessing your case. It’s hard to say. However, based on our experience, more candidates have been able to achieve a higher score in PTE than IELTS.

Well, there is no such passing score in this exam, but the required score of many Australian universities or immigration departments is above 58. If you score 65 above points, then you will get 10 points, and if you score above 79, then you will get 20 bonus points towards PR. So, PTE is not based on pass or fail.

For migration purposes, English test result is valid for three years but for the student visa purpose, it is valid for two years from the date of issue.

NAATI/CCL is valid for three years from the date of issue.

To pass, you need to secure at least 29 out of 45 for each dialogue and score at least 63 out of 90.

We provide NAATI coaching class for students who want to secure high marks and help you get the score needed to pass.
